Booking your cake smash session
Turning ONE is such a huge milestone that creeps up on us so quickly and before we know it our babies are at school, shutting us out their rooms and applying for jobs…. SIGH.. we know this all too well. At Michelle Petkovic Photography here in Adelaide we love celebrations but for turning ONE we love to go big and celebrate with a CAKE SMASH. This is a perfect way for you to keep the memory of your little ONE being ONE forever. These memories never fade in our minds or hearts but what better images to have of your little one with a fun and messy cake smash.
When you are planning your little loves birthday cake smash there are a few things to consider. Below we have answered our most frequently asked questions.
When should I book my cake smash session?
This all depends on what you would like to do with your images…..party invitations, photos on display at their party, thank you cards - so many options! We can’t stress enough that you make sure you contact us as soon as you starting thinking of having a cake smash shoot so that we can ensure availability for when you will need us. Our turn around time from your session to delivery of digital images is 2 weeks so make sure you take this into account when choosing the best date. Our very best favourite is when we get to do the cake smash on your little one’s actual birthday!
What is included in our Cake Smash Package?
We have created an all inclusive package just for cake smash sessions so that all you need to bring is your little one ready to make a big mess! Please contact us for our most up to date information guide.
Can I choose the theme?
Absolutely! One of our favourite parts of planning a cake smash session is creating the perfect custom cake smash backdrop just for your little ONE! You can choose a particular theme such as little monsters, the circus, boho, where the wild things are etc or with your choice of colours we can create something unique for you. It can be elaborate or beautifully simple to keep your little ONE the center of attention.
Can we go outdoors?
Yes we certainly can! In the warmer months we LOOOOVE doing cake smashes outside at our special location just 4 mins from our Paralowie studio.
Sugar free options?
We know that not all parents are too keen on their their little ones ingesting too much sugar. We find more often than not that they don’t eat too much of the cake however we do offer some sugar free options such as paint splash and confetti. We can also plan the smash around other foods such as doughnuts, spaghetti, watermelon…the list is endless!

It’s super easy! Just ask us for our full cake smash information booklet, have a read through and then pick your preferred date and time. A $50 deposit is required to secure your date and then we will start planning your custom cake smash design together :o)
